The experts noticed instances of additional foreign electrical equipment having been installed or foreign material left on the exhaust system. It is also our belief that over time, the Tata Nano will be bought increasingly by users in the hinterlands not fully familiar to cars. Taking all this into account, Tata decided to make the car even more robust with enhanced features in the car‘s electrical and exhaust system. All new cars being delivered to customers come with these enhanced features.
In fact our satisfaction studies with current Tata Nano owners indicate that over 90% are satisfied or very satisfied with the car, because of it being small yet spacious, its performance, maneuverability, durability, mileage and safety.

Why is the Nano not priced at 1 lakh. We thought that we could drive home a Nano in 1 lakh (on road price)?
During the time of launch, the exfactory price (and not the ex-showroom price) of the base BS2 model was maintained at Rs. 1 lac, all the allottees who have booked the car in the initial phase got the car at the said price. The price of current Nano has been increased marginally since due to increase in input cost; that is in steel and other raw material prices. This increase is, however, low as compared to industry standards. The ex-factory price does not include dealer margins; statutory levies and taxes which the government levies like Octroi, Registration and Insurance. This amounts to a large portion of the difference and is outside the purview of Tata Motors. Currently the Nano compiles to BS4 emissions which has also contributed to increase in price.
